Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Ms Sue Van der Merwe to hold Bilateral Meeting with her Chinese Counterpart Assistant Minister Lu in Cape Town.

Cape Town - The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ms Sue Van der Merwe will have bilateral discussions with her Chinese counterpart, Assistant Minister Lu at the Ministerial boardroom in 120 Plein Street, Cape Town at 14:00 today, Thursday 9 June 2005.

Assistant Minister Lu, who is one of the four Assistant Ministers in the Chinese Foreign Ministry and responsible for African Affairs will convey an important message from Mr Li Zhaoxing, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China regarding the reform of the United Nations Security Council to Deputy Minister van der Merwe. Members of the media will be afforded a photo opportunity at the start of the meeting and allowed questions at its conclusion.
