Minister Dlamini Zuma to lay a wreath at the Oliver Tambo Memorial Bust in Cuba

Havana - South African Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma will lay a wreath at a memorial bust in honour of the late former ANC President, Oliver Tambo at the Park of African Heroes in Havana, Cuba, later today, Thursday 29 September 2005.

The late Oliver Tambo played a sterling role in mobilising international support including Cuba against the inhumane system of apartheid and in organising political, moral and material support to help bring about the dawn of peace, democracy and justice to our motherland, South Africa.

Minister Dlamini Zuma is currently in Cuba, leading a senior South African government officials delegation including South Africa's Ambassador to Cuba, Thenjiwe Mtintso, to the 4th Session of the Joint South Africa-Cuba Bilateral Commission on Economic, Scientific, Technical and Business Co-operation between the two countries.

The Joint Bilateral Commission, which was preceded by a political discussion between Minister Dlamini Zuma and Cuban Foreign Minister Felipe Perez Roque as well as meetings of experts in the fields of foreign relations, health, education, public works, transport, social development, agriculture, trade and industry and water affairs and forestry, is expected to wind its business later today, Thursday, with the adoption of a joint declaration and a possible announcement of new future projects of co-operation between the two countries.

VISIT TO THE RUSSIAN FEDERATION

Minister Dlamini Zuma returns to South Africa on Saturday 01 October 2005 ahead of her scheduled working visit to the Russian Federation to lead a South African government delegation to the Joint SA-Russia Inter-Trade and Economic Co-operation (ITEC) meeting in Moscow.
