Minister Dlamini Zuma to unveil Foreign Affairs Programme of Action for 2005, 14 April 2005

Cape Town - Foreign Minister Dr Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma will unveil the 2005 - 2006 programme of action of the Department of Foreign Affairs during her Budget Vote Speech in Parliament, Cape Town on Friday 15 April 2005.

Minister Dlamini Zuma will be joined in the debate by her two Deputies Aziz Pahad and Sue Van der Merwe.

Minister Dlamini Zuma's Budget Vote Speech comes in the context of the overall 2005 programme of action for the International Relations, peace and Security Cluster of Government as ratified by the cabinet early this year.

Accordingly Minister Dlamini Zuma's Budget Vote will be located within the broad scope of the programme of action of the International Relations, Peace and Security Cluster for 2005. Minister Dlamini Zuma is the co-chair of the International Relations, peace and Security Cluster together with the Minister of Defence.

Under the overarching theme and South Africa's stated commitment to work for the renewal of the African continent and creating a better world, the International Relations, Peace and Security Cluster had identified the following as key priorities for the year 2005:

  • Consolidating the African Agenda
  • Peace, Security, stability and Post-Conflict Reconstruction
  • Consolidating South-South Relations
  • Global Governance-politics and security
  • Global Governance: socio-economic
