South African Directors-General are set to commit themselves
to serve with Loyalty, Respect, Dignity and Integrity by Signing a Public Service
Pledge in Magaliesberg on 1 December 2005 The Directors-General of South
African Public Service departments will sign a Public Service Pledge as a sign
of commitment to a high standard of professional ethics and integrity in the public
service, at the Mount Grace Hotel in Magaliesburg, North West Province, on Thursday,
1 December 2005. The signing of the Pledge comes at a time when several
views, mostly negative, are raised about the status of professional ethics in
the public service. The signing of the Pledge by Directors-General is seen as
a commitment that they will ensure the inculcation of a culture of good ethical
behaviour among public servants and reignite the passion to serve with pride and
dignity in their respective departments. The Public Service Pledge comes
as a response to the Public Sector Anti-Corruption Strategyâ~®s (PSACS)
call to promote professional ethics in the public service. All media is
invited to the signing of the Public Service Pledge. The signing of the
Pledge will be held as follows: Date: Thursday, 1 December 2005 Time:
10h30 Venue: Mount Grace, Magaliesburg The signing session will follow
the planning workshop of the Forum of South African Directors-General (FOSAD),
which will also be held at the same venue. Enquiries: Roderick Davids Office
