Media Statement on President Mbeki's International Investment Council Meeting

Members of the media are invited to attend a media briefing on Sunday, 23 October 2005, following a three-day meeting of the President's International Investment Council (IIC). The 9th meeting of the IIC will be held in Pilanesburg Game Reserve, North West from 21 to 23 October 2005.

This 3rd meeting since the third democratic elections, continues to reflect upon the consolidation of democracy, South Africa's economic development path and the benefits it offers in providing a climate conducive to foreign direct investment. The council brings together twelve world business leaders, key Ministers, Directors-General and the President's Special Advisers to discuss issues pertaining to the Investment Climate Survey, progress report on Accelerated and Shared Growth Initiative, domestic and international marketing strategy, report back on the G8 summit and debt reduction, Global economic trends implications for Brazil and South Africa, and the Global Challenges in particular Climate Change. President Mbeki will lead the government delegation.
