President Thabo Mbeki Extends South Africa's Condolences to Indonesia

Pretoria- South African President Thabo Mbeki today, Tuesday 29 March, extended South Africa's heartfelt condolences to Indonesian President Dr. Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono following the devastating earthquake that hit off the coast of Sumatra Islands on Monday.

" Please accept the condolences of the Government and peoples of South Africa to the Government and peoples of Indonesia following the devastating earthquake that struck the islands of Sumatra on Monday 28 March 2005" said President Mbeki.

"Please rest assured that the thoughts and prayers of the Government and peoples of South Africa are with your government, the peoples of Indonesia and in particular bereaved families during these trying times" continued President Mbeki.

"South Africa stands ready to assist the government and peoples of Indonesia in whatever manner it can and within the limited resources at its disposal" concluded President Mbeki.
