President Mbeki to Conclude Visit to Indonesia

Jakarta - President Thabo Mbeki will today, Sunday 24 2005, conclude his visit to Indonesia where he paid a State Visit and led a senior South African delegation to the largest gathering of leaders of the South at the Asia-Africa Summit and Commemoration of the 1955 Bandung Conference in Bandung.

President and Mrs Thabo Mbeki, accompanied by Foreign Minister Dr Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma today, Sunday 24 April 2005 participated in the Commemoration of the Golden Jubilee of the Asian-African Bandung Conference of 1955 in Bandung, Indonesia.

The programme included a Historic Special Walk by President and Mrs Mbeki and Minister Dlamini Zuma on the Asian-African Street from the Savoy Homman Hotel to Gedung Merdeka.

This was followed by an address and statement by an African representative and the signing of the outcomes of the Asian-African Summit.

President Mbeki also participated in the planting of the Asian-African Tree at the Tegala Garden in Bandung.
President Thabo Mbeki will return to South Africa on Monday, 25 April 2005 ahead of the National Orders Ceremony on Tuesday, 26 April 2005.
