President Mbeki Congratulates Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi
on the Landslide Election Victory Won by his Party, the ruling Liberal Democratic
Party Tshwane: President Mbeki, today Tuesday, 13 September 2005 extended
his congratulations to Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi on his landslide election
victory in the election that was held on 11 September 2005. President Mbeki
said, " Your Excellency, please accept my congratulations to you and your
party', the Liberal Democratic Party election victory. President Mbeki
further stated that "Japan is an important partner of South Africa in our
efforts to ensure that Africa and the South achieve their rightful place on the
world's stage. We therefore have, your Excellency ,enormous appreciation for Japan's
continued support" President Mbeki also stated that " South Africa
greatly appreciates Japan's support for the New Partnership for Africa's development
( NEPAD), through which our continent intends to unlock its great potential for,
economic, social and political regeneration."The role your country plays
in multilateral fora like the UN is also greatly appreciated and I wish you well
in the consolidation of your efforts for African and global benefit during your
