President Mbeki Condemns Terrorist Attacks in Jordan Tshwane
- South African President Thabo Mbeki today, Thursday 10 November 2005, joined
the international community in expressing outrage and condemnation of the terrorist
attacks in Amman, Jordan on Wednesday 9 November 2005, which left over 100 people
dead and scores others wounded. In a message of support to His Majesty King
Abdullah II bin Al-Hussein, President Mbeki said, "Please accept on behalf
of the government and people of South Africa our deepest condolences following
the cowardly attacks on innocent civilians." "The South African
government condemns these heinous acts and expresses its confidence that the perpetrators
of these callous acts will soon to brought to face the full might of the law." "Terrorism
cannot be used to justify any cause. Consequently, the thoughts and prayers of
the government and people of South Africa reach out to the government and people
of Jordan, particularly those who have lost their loved ones, while wishing those
