Media Advisory: President Mbeki to address South Africa - Mali Timbuktu Fundraising Dinner: 1 Oct 2005

President Thabo Mbeki, accompanied by the Minister in the Presidency, Dr Essop Pahad, will attend the South Africa Mali Timbuktu Fundraising Dinner to be held on Saturday evening, October 1, at the Presidential Guesthouse in Pretoria.

The dinner is one of the concerted efforts made by South Africa in collaboration with the Government of Mali to raise funds from South African business and the public for the preservation and protection of the Timbuktu manuscripts.

In keeping with the two country's efforts jointly to conserve the inspirational Timbuktu manuscripts, the pride and treasure of the African continent and its people, President Mbeki will host President Amadou Toumani Toure in Pretoria, Saturday, October 1, during which the two presidents will address the South Africa Mali Timbuktu Fundraising Dinner.
