Minister Dlamini Zuma to Lead South African Delegation to SADC
Council of Ministers Meeting, Gaborone, Botswana Monday, 15 - Tuesday, 16 August
2005 Tshwane - South African Foreign Minister Dr Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma
will, on Sunday, 14 August 2005 depart for Gaborone, Botswana where she will lead
the South African delegation to the SADC Council of Ministers meeting scheduled
for Monday - Tuesday, 15-16 August 2005. The Council of Ministers is expected
to deliberate on, and make recommendations to the Heads of State and Government
Summit scheduled for Wednesday - Thursday, 17-18 August 2005 on the following
issues: - The outcomes of the Sirte African Union (AU) Summit including
progress in the implementation of NEPAD and the attainment of the Millennium Development
Goals;
- The position of SADC Foreign Ministers on the right of veto for
new United Nations Security Council members in a reformed United Nations;
- The
status of relations with international co-operating partners including the European
Union, the World Bank, India through the SADC-India Forum, ASEAN and the Gulf
Co-operation Council;
- Activities of the SADC Integrated Committee of
Ministers;
- A review the regional situation with regard to: economic and
social, agriculture and food security situation; gender and HIV and Aids;
- The
SADC Development Fund;
- The Southern African Power Pool; and
- The
SADC Housing Policy.
President Thabo Mbeki is expected to depart
from South Africa on Tuesday, 16 August 2005 ahead of the Summit of Heads of State
