President Thabo Mbeki, accompanied by Minister Dlamini Zuma to attend Inauguration of Tanzanian President Elect Jakaya Kikwete

Tshwane - South African President Thabo Mbeki, accompanied by Foreign Minister Dr Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma, will depart from South Africa on Wednesday 21 December 2005 for Tanzania where he is scheduled to attend the inauguration of the newly elected President-designate Jakaya Kikwete scheduled for 21 December 2005.

President Thabo Mbeki's attendance of the inauguration of the President-designate of Tanzania comes within the context of South Africa's commitment to consolidate historical political, economic, social and cultural relations between South Africa and Tanzania.

President Thabo Mbeki today Tuesday, 20 December 2005 extended his congratulations to President-designate Jakaya Kikwete on the successful conclusion of the third multiparty election in Tanzania.

President Thabo Mbeki will conclude his visit to Tanzania on Wednesday, 21 December 2005.
