President Thabo Mbeki arrives in Tanzania ahead of Inauguration of President Elect Jakaya Kikwete

Dar es Salaam - South African President Thabo Mbeki, accompanied by Foreign Minister Dr Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma, has arrived in Tanzania ahead of the inauguration of the newly elected President-designate Jakaya Kikwete today Wednesday, 21 December 2005.

President Thabo Mbeki's attendance of the inauguration of the President-designate of Tanzania comes within the context of South Africa's commitment to consolidate historical political, economic, social and cultural relations between South Africa and Tanzania.

President Thabo Mbeki on Tuesday, 20 December 2005 extended his congratulations to President-designate Jakaya Kikwete on the successful conclusion of the third multiparty election in Tanzania.

President Thabo Mbeki will conclude his visit to Tanzania today Wednesday, 21 December 2005.
