South African Government condemns Bomb Blasts in London

Tshwane-The South African Government has learnt with shock and dismay of the bomb blasts on a number of sites in London, UK which left several people dead and scores of others wounded, today, Thursday 7 July 2005.

" Quite clearly these constitutes acts of terrorism and must be condemned in the strongest terms and without equivocation by the international community. Attacks against civilians can never be justified under any circumstances," said Deputy Minister Aziz Pahad.

"In this context, we are confident that the British Government will thoroughly investigate the matter with a view to bringing the perpetrators of these heinous deeds to face the full might of the law" continued Deputy Minister Aziz Pahad.

"The South African Government extends its heartfelt condolences to the Government and people of Great Britain and in particular the families of those who lost their loved ones whilst wishing those wounded a speedy recovery.

"In this context, the South African Government will liaise with the British Government to determine whether there were any South Africans affected adversely by the blasts," concluded Deputy Minister Pahad.
