Minister Dlamini Zuma to hold Discussions in London

Tshwane - South African Foreign Minister Dr Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma will on Saturday 23 July 2005 depart for London, to join Ministers of the African Union's (AU's) Committee of 10 for further discussions with the G-4 (India, Brazil, Germany and Japan) regarding the comprehensive reform of the United Nations on Monday, 25 July 2005.

The London meeting follows the meeting of Foreign Ministers of the Committee of 10 and their counterparts from India, Brazil, Germany and Japan in New York this week. Discussions focused "on the way forward and prospects for common action between the AU and the G-4 with regard to UN reform and the reform of the Security Council." (New York Communique)

In this regard, Foreign Ministers of the AU and G4 agreed to establish a joint mechanism that would work expeditiously to explore ways to overcome the differences and arrive at a common position.

Minister Dlamini Zuma is expected to arrive in South Africa on Tuesday, 26 July 2005 ahead of the official visit of Malaysian Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi to South Africa.
