President Thabo Mbeki Signs Convention for the Suppression of
Acts of Nuclear Terrorism New York - South African President Thabo Mbeki
joined other world leaders in appending his signature to the United Nation's International
Convention for the Suppression of Acts of Nuclear Terrorism in New York on Wednesday,
14 September 2005. President Mbeki, accompanied by South Africa's First
Lady Mrs Zanele Mbeki, is in New York leading the South African government delegation,
including Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma, to the Millennium
Review Summit and the 60th session of the United Nations General Assembly.
President
Mbeki who earlier on Wednesday, postponed delivery of his speech to the Millennium
Review Summit is now poised to address the gathering of the world leaders later
today, Thursday 15 September 2005. Following his address to the Millennium
Review Summit, President Mbeki will participate in an interactive Round Table
discussion on the outcome of the progress made in the achievement of the Millennium
Development Goals (MDGs). Later today Thursday, 15 September, President
Mbeki, supported by Minister Dlamini Zuma will join UN Secretary-General Kofi
Annan and African Union Chairperson President Olusegan Obasanjo in a meeting of
the African Union's mediation in Côte d'Ivoire. On the bilateral front,
President Mbeki is scheduled to host his Seychelles counterpart for discussions
