Update 2: South Africans in New Orleans

Tshwane- Two of the four South Africans who were placed on the Emergency Management list following the hurricane Katrina in New Orleans, USA have now been located alive and well.

By Monday 5 September, four South Africans had been placed on the emergency management list. This subsequently rose to five following an enquiry from a member of the public whose relative was believed to be in New Orleans at the time of the disaster.

Consequently, three South Africans now remain on the emergency management list. The Department of Foreign Affairs is doing everything possible to assist the affected families and remains in contact with American authorities through our Embassy in Washington DC, in this regard.
