Update 3: All reported South Africans affected by Hurricane Katrina, now located.

Tshwane- Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma, announced in Cape Town, today, Thursday 8 September that all South Africans that were reported to have been affected by Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans, USA, have now been located alive and well.

This refers to all South Africans that were either reported to the South African Embassy or Foreign Affairs Department in Pretoria as having been in New Orleans at the time of the devastation of Hurricane Katrina.

Minister Dlamini Zuma expresses her gratitude to all Foreign Affairs Consular officers both at home and in the USA for their services in locating the affected South Africans as well as families of those affected for their co-operation and patience in this regard.

The Department of Foreign Affairs, will, nonetheless continue to liaise with USA authorities with a view to determining whether there were any outstanding and unreported South Africans that may have been adversely affected by the hurricane.

Minister Dlamini Zuma reiterates President Thabo Mbeki and the government's heartfelt condolences to the government and people of the USA and in particular those families that lost their loved ones.
