Funeral Service for the Late SA High Commissioner to Uganda, Bavumile Vilakazi

Thousands of mourners are expected to converge at the Vaal University of Technology in Vanderbijlpark on Sunday, 1st May 2005 from 8h00 a.m to 12h00 p.m at the funeral service of the late SA High Commissioner to Uganda, Bavumile Vilakazi.

Vilakazi, 50 passed away on 21st April 2005 in Kampala, Uganda where he had served as South Africa High Commissioner for the past three years.

Speakers will include, among others Minister of Provincial and Local Government, Sydney Mufamadi, ANC, SACP and Cosatu Gauteng provincial leaders.

As we lay Vilakazi's mortal remains to rest, we recall with great fondness his dedication to the course of democracy, peace and justice in South Africa: his humility in the service of the people of our country and his commitment to the renewal of Africa and creation of a better world .

Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma reiterates the government's gratitudes to President Yoweri Mseveni, the government and people of Uganda for the

generous contribution and support to the Vilakazi's family during this trying time.

Indeed the thoughts and prayers of President Thabo Mbeki, the government and people of South Africa reach out to the entire Vilakazi family and in particular his wife, Sisi and the two children- Xolani and Mangaliso.
