| President Thabo Mbeki to Lead South African Delegation to Annual 
World Economic Forum Meeting and 4th Ordinary Session of the African Union, Wednesday, 
26 - Monday, 31 January 2005 Pretoria - South African President Thabo Mbeki 
acommpanied by Ministers of Trade and Industry and Finance, Mandisi Mpahlwa and 
Trevor Manuel respectively will depart for Davos, Switzerland on Tuesday, 25 January 
2005 ahead of the annual meeting of the World Economic Forum entitled, "Taking 
Responsibility for Tough Choices." President Thabo Mbeki will participate 
in sessions entitled: "The G-8 and Africa: Rhetoric or Action?"; "Africa 
2020: A Continent Reborn," and attend a working dinner of the Informal Gathering 
of World Economic Leaders (IGWEL) entitled "Globalisation: Who Wins Who Loses?" While 
in Davos, President Mbeki is also expected to hold bilateral discussions with 
Chancellor Gerhard Schröder of Germany, Brazil's President Lula da Silva 
and the Deputy Prime Minister of Malaysia, Najib Razak. President Mbeki 
will depart from Davos on Saturday, 29 January 2005 ahead of the 4th Ordinary 
Session of the Assembly of the African Union scheduled for Sunday - Monday, 30-31 
January 2005 in Abuja, Nigeria. Abuja, NigeriaPresident Thabo Mbeki, 
accompanied by Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma, will lead 
the South African delegation to the 4th Ordinary Session of the Assembly of the 
African Union from Sunday - Monday, 30-31 January 2005 in Abuja, Nigeria.
 Summit 
will consider the reports of the Chairperson of the Peace and Security Council 
and the Heads of State Implementation Committee on NEPAD, and receive a briefing 
on the Asian-African Summit to be hosted by Indonesia in Bandung later this year. In 
addition, issues on the agenda of the Summit will deliberate on the continental 
situation with regard to food security and HIV/Aids, malaria, tuberculosis and 
polio eradication. President Mbeki returns to South Africa on Tuesday, 1
