Leave for Ambassador M Shaik to Attend Court Proceedings NATIONAL

IN INTERNAL QUESTION PAPER NO 21 OF 17 JUNE 2005 Mr DHM Gibson (DA) to ask
the Minister of Foreign Affairs:
Whether Mr Mo Shaik, a senior official
within the Department of Foreign Affairs was granted official leave to attend
the court proceedings of his brother, if so (a) by whom was this leave granted
(b) how many days has been afforded and (c) what was the total cost to the taxpayer? N1378E REPLY: 1.
It must be pointed out that an employee is not obliged to disclose the reasons
for taking vacation leave. Management grants vacation leave based on whether the
employee has leave days due to him and operational requirements. The same principles
were applied in Ambassador Mo Shaik's case. 2. With regard to vacation
leave and other leave that was taken by Ambassador Mo Shaik during the relevant
period, a reply was previously provided to Question Number PQ696.N911E that was
asked by Ms S M Camerer (MP). |
