IN INTERNAL QUESTION PAPER NO 14 OF 20 MAY 2005 Mrs S M Camerer (DA) to
ask the Minister of Foreign Affairs: (1) (a) How many official trips abroad
have been undertaken by her Deputy Director-General, Dr Anil Sooklal since January
2003, (b) what are the (i) details and (ii) purpose of these trips and (c) on
how many of these trips was the said Deputy Director-General accompanied by his
wife; (2) whether any other family members accompanied him and his wife
on any of these visits; if so, (a) which family members, (b) on which trips, (c)
why and (d) what was the cost to the State in each case; (3) whether his
wife paid for her own travel costs; if not, (a) why not, (b) on which occasions
were such travel costs not paid for by her and (c) what was the cost to her department

for all expenses related to his spouse when she accompanied him on trips overseas.
At no time was any additional departmental funds utilised to pay for expenses
related to his spouse accompanying him.
