QUESTION NO: 708

PUBLISHED IN INTERNAL QUESTION PAPER NO 14 OF 20 MAY 2005

Mr W J Seremane (DA) to ask the Minister of Foreign Affairs:
Whether she agrees with the statements made by Cyril Ramaphosa at an African investment conference that (a) the Zimbabwean economy is under so much stress it needs some kind of intervention, (b) instability and conflict within one African country has a destabilising impact on its neighbours and an unsettling effect on potential investors and (c) the Nepad peer review mechanism would have no chance of success with countries like Zimbabwe; if not, why not; if so what kind of intervention will the Government take in Zimbabwe?
