Ms H Weber (DA) to ask the Minister of Foreign Affairs:

(1) Whether there are persons with disabilities working in her department; if not, why not; if so, (a) how many and (b) what percentage of her department's workforce does this figure represent;

(2) whether her department has achieved the 2%-target set by the Government in this regard; if not, (a) how many additional disabled persons must still be employed to reach this target and (b) by what date will this target be achieved; if so, what are the relevant details?

REPLY:

(1) Yes, there are people with disabilities working in the Department of Foreign Affairs

(a) The Department is currently employing twenty-four (24) people with disabilities.

(b) They constitute 1% of the total establishment

(2) The Department will attempt to achieve this 2% target set by the DPSA by the end of the 2006/07 financial year.

(a) Twenty-four (24) more people with disabilities need to be employed in order to achieve the target.

(b) The Department will attempt to achieve this target by the end of the 2006/07 financial year.
