President Thabo Mbeki Congratulates Prime Minister Ferenc Gyurcsány on the Election Victory of his Ruling Centre - Left Socialist Party and its Coalition Partner, The Free Democrats

Tshwane: President Thabo Mbeki, today Monday, 24 April 2006, extended his congratulations to Hungarian Prime Minister Ferenc Gyurcsány on the electoral victory of the Socialist Party and its coalition party, the Free Democrats in the parliamentary elections that took place on the 9 and 23 April 2006.

President Mbeki said "Please accept my personal congratulations to you and your coalition party, the Socialist Party and the Free Democrats on your election victory"

May I also take this opportunity to assure you of my Government's continued goodwill and desire to work towards a further deepening of bilateral relations between the Republic of South Africa and the Republic of Hungary. I am sure that the existing good relations between our two countries built over the last years and specifically over the past 16 months under your able leadership will continue to grow and prosper during your new term in office.

Mr Prime Minister, May I personally wish you good health and prosperity for your country and its people and I look forward to continuing working with you in the same spirit of co-operation as we have enjoyed over the years" concluded President Mbeki.
