Minister Dlamini Zuma to Lead South African Delegation to the SADC Organ on Politics, Defence and Security

Cape town - South African Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma will, today Monday 06 February 2006 depart Cape Town for Windhoek, Namibia where she will lead a high level Government delegation to the meeting of the SADC Organ on Politics, Defence and Security later today.

Minister Dlamini Zuma's delegation includes Ministers Mosioua Lekota, Charles Nqakula and Deputy Minister Malusi Gigaba as well as senior government officials.

South Africa's participation in the meeting takes place within the context of the country's commitment to advancing the African agenda through among others the strengthening and consolidation of SADC institutions.

In this context, the SADC Organ on Politics Defence and Security will deliberate upon, among others,

  • Regional politico-economic situation in SADC
  • Elections in the region
  • And SADC stand-by force.

Minister Dlamini Zuma returns to SA on Tuesday 07 February 2006.
