Minister Dlamini Zuma to address London School of Economics
on the United Nations London - South African Foreign Minister Dr Nkosazana
Dlamini Zuma will later today Wednesday 25 October address the London School of
Economics and Political Science on the "United Nations in the 21st Century:
a perspective from a developing country." The address to the London
School of Economics comes within the context of the recent unanimous election
of South Africa by a vote of 186 out of 192 to serve in the United Nations Security
Council in a non-permanent capacity. In this regard, Minister Dlamini was
requested by the London School of Economics to deliver the address to the London
School of Economics as part of the institution's celebrations to mark the 60th
Anniversary of the establishment of the United Nations. During the visit to London,
Minister Dlamini Zuma will also interact with the African and Caribbean members
of the Diplomatic Corps based in the United Kingdom. Minister
Dlamini Zuma to deliver Inaugural Lecture on Oliver Tambo in Scotland
While
in the United Kingdom, Minister Dlamini Zuma will on Thursday 26 October 2006.
deliver the Oliver Tambo Inaugural Memorial Lecture at the City Chambers, Nelson
Mandela Square (formerly George's Square) in Scotland. Minister Dlamini
Zuma's Memorial Lecture comes within the context of efforts to strengthen and
consolidate relations with the people of UK who played a major role in efforts
to rid South Africa of the scourge of racism and apartheid. The Inaugural
Oliver Tambo Memorial lecture in Scotland also coincides with the scheduled official
renaming in South Africa of the Johannesburg International Airport to Oliver Tambo
International Airport scheduled for 27 October 2006. Minister Dlamini Zuma
is expected to return to South Africa on Saturday 28 October 2006 ahead of the
visit of to China where she will provide political support to President Thabo
Mbeki during the China-Africa Summit scheduled 3-5 November 2006 in Beijing Issued
