Minister Geraldine Fraser-Moleketi to Attend United Nations
Workshop on Governance in Kigali, 8 May 2006 The Minister for Public Service
and Administration, Ms Geraldine Fraser-Moleketi, will attend the United Nations
Workshop on Governance in Kigali, Rwanda, 8 May 2006. Minister Fraser-Moleketi,
who is the Focal Point and Chairperson of the African Peer Review Mechanism (APRM)
Governing Council in South Africa as well as the Chairperson on the Pan-African
Ministers of Public Services, will join senior government officials from 25 African
countries at the workshop, which will discuss how to improve Governance in Africa.
Also attending will be Kenya's Minister for Planning and National Development
Henry Obwocha, Sierra Leone's Minister for Presidential and Public Affairs Shekou
M Sesay and officials from the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the
United Nations Division for Public Administration and Development Management and
the New Partnership for Africa's Development (NEPAD)/African Peer Review Secretariat
and Italy. The main objective of the workshop is to gather views of the
officials on how the African Governance Inventory (AGI), an internet portal, can
support good governance - the goal of the APRM. The workshop which will
be the first-ever meeting of African government officials in charge of the internet
portal and of the APRM is expected to provide a better understanding of the links
between the AGI Portal and the APRM. For more information, please contact:
