South African Government welcomes the Release of Kevin Woods and Michael Smith

Pretoria - The Department of Foreign Affairs was today, 1 July 2006, informed by its representative in Zimbabwe, Ambassador Mlungisi Makalima, of the release of Kevin Woods and Michael Smith into their custody. The two are expected to travel to South Africa today.

The South African government accordingly extends its gratitude to President Robert Mugabe and the government of Zimbabwe for its humanitarian gesture.
