MR L B LABUSCHAGNE (DA) TO ASK THE MINISTER OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS:

(1) Whether any member of her department attended a disciplinary hearing or enquiry bearing a firearm; if so; what action did her department take in this regard;

(2) Whether this person is still a member of her department; if so, what are the relevant details.

REPLY:

(1) Yes, a member of the Department of Foreign Affairs attended a disciplinary hearing or enquiry bearing firearms. The Department took disciplinary action against him and issued the sanction of a final written warning and suspension without pay for three months.

(2) The Staff member has been dismissed by the Department for other acts of misconduct on 19 June 2006.
