Deputy President Mlambo-Ngcuka to host Bolivian Counterpart Pretoria
- South African Deputy President Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka will tomorrow Wednesday
11 April 2007 host her Bolivian counterpart Vice President Alvaro Garcia Linera
for bilateral political and economic discussions at the Union Buildings in Pretoria.
Vice President Garcia will pay a working visit to South Africa from Tuesday -
Thursday 10-12 April 2007 during which he will visit Gauteng and Cape Town. Deputy
President Mlambo-Ngcuka will host Prime Minister Garcia within the context of
South Africa's commitment to further strengthen bilateral political, economic
and trade relations with Bolivia as part of advancing South-South relations. Issues
on the agenda of discussions between Deputy President Mlambo-Ngcuka and Prime
Minister Garcia are expected to include, among others:
- The status
of bilateral political and economic relations between both countries including
the potential and opportunities for trade and investment co-operation between
both countries;
- A briefing on developments in South America and Southern
Africa;
- Co-operation between South Africa and Bolivia in the field of
constitutional reform; and
- Other issues of mutual concern including the
achievement of the Millennium Development Goals, and the comprehensive reform
of the United Nations.
Vice President Garcia will depart from South
Africa on Thursday 12 April 2007.
