President Thabo Mbeki and Mrs Zanele Mbeki Convey Condelences to Malawian President

Pretoria - South African President Thabo Mbeki and Mrs Zanele Mbeki today Tuesday 29 May 2007 extended, on behalf of the government and people of South Africa, their heartfelt condolences, to Malawian President Dr Bingu wa Mutharika following the death of the First Lady Ethel Mutharika on Monday 28 May 2007.

In a message of support to President Mutharika, President Mbeki said, "The government and people of South Africa convey their condolences following the loss of such a great mother to the Malawian Nation, the government and people of Malawi."

"The government and people of South Africa join the loved ones, family and friends of Madame Mutharika in prayer and mourning during this time of sorrow and bereavement," concluded President Thabo Mbeki.
