President Mbeki Congratulates the President of Sierra Leone

Pretoria: South African President Thabo Mbeki today Friday 21 September 2007, on behalf of the Government and the people of South Africa, extended warm congratulations to President Ernest Bai Koroma on his successful election as the President of Sierra Leone.

In a message of support to President Koroma, President Mbeki shared that, “the government and people of South Africa particularly commend the peoples of Sierra Leone for the peaceful and exemplary manner in which the elections were conducted.”

“These elections were further evidence of the strides that the continent is making in promoting democracy, the rule of law and good governance,” continued President Mbeki.

“The government of the Republic of South Africa looks forward to working with the government of the Republic of Sierra Leone in furthering the aims of the Nepad process, resolving conflicts in the continent and further strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries”, concluded President Mbeki.
