President Thabo Mbeki extends congratulations to Turkish President-Elect 

Pretoria – South African President Thabo Mbeki today Friday 31 August 2007 extended, on behalf of the South African government and people, congratulations to President-elect of Turkey Dr Abdullah Gül.

In a message of support to President-elect Gul, President Mbeki said, “I avail myself of the opportunity to convey to Your Excellency, my warmest greetings and congratulations, on your election as President of Turkey.”

“I trust that our relationship will extend to incorporate solutions to the challenges facing the African continent and world at large,” continued President Mbeki

‘It is my wish therefore that the good relations that exists between our two countries will be further strengthened under your able leadership,” concluded President Mbeki.
