Whether her department has considered entering into agreements with other countries whereby South African nationals serving sentences in prisons in foreign countries will rather serve out their sentences in South African prisons; if not, why not; if so, what the relevant details? N930E

REPLY:

No. Government is of the view that South African citizens who are arrested for crimes
committed abroad must serve the prison terms and conditions of such terms in
the countries where the offences were committed.
