Use of Private Security Firms in the Department

MR DHM GIBSON (DA) TO ASK THE MINISTER OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS:

(1) Whether her department makes use of private security firms; if so, (a) how much money was spent on such firms in (a) 2005 and (b) 2006 ;

(2) Whether these firms are used on contractual basis; if so, (a) how many contracts did her department take out in this regard in 2006, (b) with which firms were these contracts taken out, (c) for what specific purpose was each contract taken out and (d) what was the value of the contract in each case; N191E

REPLY:

(1) No.

The Department of Foreign Affairs does not make use of private security firms (as opposed to state security)

(2) Not applicable.
