Mr L B Labuschagne (DA) to ask the Minister of Foreign Affairs:
(a) how many Heads of Missions posts are occupied by (i) career diplomats and (ii) non-career contract appointments;
(b) what was the percentage of career and non-career Heads of Missions for the (i) 2003-04, (ii) 2004-05 and (iii) 2005-06 financial years and;
(c) (i) which Heads of Missions posts were filled by (aa) career diplomats and (bb) contract appointments as at 1 November 2006 and (ii) what was the ethic/gender composition thereof in each case? N23E

REPLY:

(a) The Heads of Mission posts are occupied as follows:
(i) Career Diplomats: 44
(ii) Non-career contract appointments: 64


(b) The table below provides the percentages of career and non-career Heads of Missions for the (i) 2003-04, (ii) 2004-05 and (iii) 2005-06 financial years.
