President Thabo Mbeki congratulates Ian Khama on his Appointment as Botswana’s President

Pretoria- South African President Thabo Mbeki on Tuesday 2 April extended on behalf of the government and people of South Africa his warm congratulations to Botswana’s newly appointed President Ian Khama.

In this regard, President Mbeki said “I avail myself of this opportunity to convey to Your Excellency, warmest greetings and congratulations, on your appointment as President of the Republic of Botswana”

“I trust that our relationship will extend to incorporate solutions to the challenges facing Southern Africa and the continent as a whole”, said President Mbeki

“It is my wish therefore that the good relations that exist between our two countries will be further strengthened under your able leadership for the betterment of our people, the region, and the continent” continued President Mbeki.

“Please accept, my best wishes for your personal well-being and a successful term of office” concluded President Mbeki.
