SA Finalising Arrangements with French Authorities to evacuate 15 South Africans working in Chad

South Africa joins the international community in expressing its concern regarding the deteriorating political situation in Chad. In this regard we call on all parties to co-operate with the AU-led mediation effort aimed at finding a lasting political solution in Chad.

The Government is aware of 15 South Africans working in Chad at the moment. The SA diplomatic mission is in contact with most of these South Africans in Chad. On the other hand, the Department of Foreign Affairs’ Consular Services is in contact with members of their families based in South Africa. All other families who have relatives in Chad, but have not been contacted by the Department of Foreign Affairs should contact our Consular Services at 012 – 3511000.

The Department of Foreign Affairs is in contact with the French authorities who have agreed to assist with the evacuation of the 15 South Africans currently working in Chad. In this context our diplomatic mission in Chad is finalising arrangements for the successful evacuation of the 15 South Africans.
