Minister Dlamini Zuma Inaugurated South African Consulate-General in Shanghai
Shanghai – South African Foreign Minister Dr Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma today Friday 25 April 2008 officially inaugurated the South African Consulate-General in Shanghai while simultaneously kicking off Freedom Day celebrations in the City.
Minister Dlamini Zuma was in this regard supported by Trade and Industry Minister, Deputy Foreign Minister Aziz Pahad, South African Ambassador to Beijing Ndumiso Ntshinga, South African Consul-General to Shanghai Vika Khumalo and other senior South African government officials.
Minister Dlamini Zuma yesterday Thursday 24 April 2008 launched a commemorative stamp and envelope as part of the celebrations of Decade of Diplomatic Relations between China and South Africa.
Minister Dlamini Zuma and Deputy Minister Pahad, as part of the Celebrations, in Beijing and Shanghai respectively addressed seminars exploring “South Africa’s Vision for the 21st Century,” with a view to assessing the way forward for South Africa-China relations.
The 10th Anniversary celebrations of the establishment of diplomatic relations with China will culminate in the state visit of President Thabo Mbeki to China later this year. Both Minister Dlamini Zuma and Deputy Minister Pahad will conclude their official visits to the People’s Republic of China on Saturday 26 April 2008.
