Minister Dlamini Zuma participates in a Wreath - Laying Ceremony at the Jose Marti Memorial, La Havana, Cuba, 25 August 2008

Havana – South African Foreign Minister, Dr. Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma has today, Monday, 25 August laid a wreath at the Jose Marti Memorial at the Plaza de la Revolution in Havana in honour of all those who died in the struggle against inequality and injustice. The solemn ceremony also attended by our Cuban hosts symbolized the solid ties of international solidarity that the Cuban peoples share with their South African brothers and sisters.

Minister Dlamini Zuma was supported by South Africa's Ambassador to Cuba, Ms. Thenjiwe Mtintso, Foreign Affairs, Director - General, Dr. Ayanda Ntsaluba and Acting Deputy Director General, Ambassador. Gert Grobler.

Jose Marti was a leader of the Cuban independence movement from Spain as well as a renowned poet, writer, journalist, translator and diplomat.

The wreath - laying ceremony at the Jose Marti Memorial laid the foundation for the beginning of the official visit to Cuba.

This evening, after official talks with Cuban Foreign Minister, His Excellency, Mr. Felipe Perez Roque, Minister Dlamini Zuma will meet with the African Diplomatic Corps accredited to Cuba at the South African Official Residence in La Havana, Cuba.
