Statement regarding the death of Itilian Ambassador to South Africa Mr Alessandor Cevese

Pretoria- The Department of Foreign Affairs regrets to inform that the Ambassador of the Republic of Italy, His Excellency Mr. Alessandro Cevese tragically died in a motor accident early today, Saturday 19 April 2008. The accident took place on a game farm at approximately 06:00 in the morning, near Tom Bourke approximately 60km from Marken.

Ambassador Cevese was a well loved and highly respected diplomat that served in South Africa twice during his career.  Ambassador Cevese was a stately and honored Ambassador for the country.    

On behalf of President Thabo Mbeki, Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma, The government and People of South Africa we convey our heartfelt condolences to the Government and people of Italy and extend our prayers and thoughts to his wife and members of the bereaved family.
