South Africa extends condolences to Myanmar following Cyclone Disaster

Pretoria- The South African government joins the international community in extending its condolences to the people of Myanmar following the devastating cyclone over the weekend which resulted in over 20 000 people dead and destruction of property and infrastructure.

In this regard, the South African government says “It is with a deep sense of regret that the government and people of South Africa learnt of the deaths of so many citizens of Myanmar as well as the destruction of property and infrastructure following the devastating trail of a cyclone.

The South African Government, accordingly, joins the entire international community in extending its heartfelt condolences to those families who lost their loved ones while wishing those wounded a speedy recovery.

South Africa stands ready to join the international community in assisting the people of Myanmar, within its limited resources, in mitigating the effects of this disaster.
