South Africans abducted in Nigeria may be released by Wednesday

Pretoria- South African High Commissioner to Nigeria Stix Sifingo has today, Monday 15 September been advised by the Nigerian authorities that the two South Africans abducted in Niger Delta may be released by Wednesday 17 September.

High Commissioner Sifingo is part of a Committee of High Commissioners of countries affected by the abduction that daily liaises with the office of the National Security Advisor in the office of the Nigerian President. In this regard, High Commissioner Sifingo was advised today that a great possibility exists that the two South Africans may be released by Wednesday.

The Government will keep a close watch on these developments and extends its thoughts and prayers to those families affected by the abduction. The Government will continue to work with the Nigerian authorities until a speedy and an amicable resolution of the matter is reached.
