Minister Sydney Mufamadi met US Assistant Secretary Jendayi Fraser in Pretoria, 24 April 2008

Pretoria- In response to media queries regarding the US Assistant Secretary of State’s visit to South Africa, the government wishes to put the following on record:

The South African Government confirms that Minister of Provincial and Local Government Sydney Mufamadi, supported by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Sue van der Merwe today, Thursday 24 April 2008 met with US Assistant Secretary of State Jendayi Fraser in Pretoria to discuss the situation in Zimbabwe.

Minister Mufamadi met the Assistant Secretary Fraser within the context of South Africa’s role as SADC-facilitator, led by President Thabo Mbeki, of talks between the main Zimbabwean political protagonists, Zanu-PF and the MDC.
