- (a) What was the total cost to the State of consultants used by her department in the (i) 2005-06, (ii) 2006-07 and (iii) 2007-08 financial years,
(b) what are the names of the consultants used;
(c) for what purpose were they used and
(d) what was the reason for preferring to use consultants instead of hiring persons with the necessary skills;
- whether any former employees of her department have been employed as consultants in the abovementioned financial years; if so,
(a) why and
(b) why did each such person leave her department??
REPLY:
1. (a) What was the total cost to the State of consultants used by her department in the (i) 2005-06, (ii) 2006-07 and (iii) 2007-08 financial years,
Total cost of consultants for
(i) 2005/2006: R 1 095 956.00
(ii) 2006/2007: R 6 977 976.18
(iii) 2007/2008: R 4 258 756.37
(b) what are the names of the consultants used;
As per attached schedule
(c) for what purpose were they used and
As per attached schedule
(d) what was the reason for preferring to use consultants instead of hiring persons with the necessary skills;
Reason for preferring to use consultants in stead of hiring persons with the necessary skills relating to the services mentioned above is due to the fact that the consultancy services required is not the core business of DFA
2. whether any former employees of her department have been employed as consultants in the abovementioned financial years;
No consultants appointed indicated that they were formerly employed by DFA
