Mr D H M Gibson (DA) to ask the Minister of Foreign Affairs:

Whether any members of her department have been requested to attend the policy conference of a certain political organisation (name furnished), to be held in June 2007; if so, in respect of each member requested to attend, (a) what is their name, (b) what position do they hold in her department, (c) in what capacity will they be appearing, (d) what role will they be playing at the conference, (e) who will be paying their travel expenses, (f) who requested that they attend and (g) what are the further relevant details?                                                      N1223E

Officials who might have attended the conference would have done so in their private capacity on basis of invitations extended to them directly.  The Department would not have been a conduit for such invitations and therefore would not be aware of who was invited.
