Statement on Cabinet Meeting of 5 June 2009

At a special meeting this morning, Cabinet approved the appointment of Mr Wellington Vusumuzi Mavimbela as the Director-General in The Presidency.

Mr Mavimbela brings a wealth of public and private sector experience to The Presidency. He is a former Director-General of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA) and has served as political and security advisor to former President Thabo Mbeki. He left the public sector in 2005 to join Mvelaphanda Group Limited as a Director responsible for business strategy and African expansion.

The meeting also finalised and approved the programme for Cabinet and Committee meetings for the rest of the year.
