Minister Dlamini Zuma to hold Discussions with Chinese Counterpart
Pretoria – South African Foreign Affairs Minister Dr Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma will on Friday 16 November 2009 hold a bilateral Strategic Dialogue Meeting with her counterpart from the People’s Republic of China Mr Yang Jiechi in Kleinmond, Western Cape.
The meeting is held within the context of the Strategic Partnership between the South Africa and the People’s Republic of China which was launched on 7 January 2008.
It will also offer both countries the opportunity to further discuss a number of critical issues including amongst others:
- Bilateral political co-operation between South Africa and the People’s Republic of China, with particular reference to the domestic political and economic situation in both countries, Strategic Dialogue, South Africa-China Bi-national Commission (BNC) and the 10th Anniversary of Diplomatic Relations which was celebrated during the course of 2008;
- Bilateral economic co-operation within the context of the Partnership for Growth and Development (PGD);
- International affairs co-operation, with particular focus on the co-ordination and co-operation in multilateral relations, including the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC), peacekeeping on the African continent and China’s involvement therein; and
- Sharing of information on current matters of international concern and interest.
