Minister Dlamini Zuma arrives in Copenhagen ahead of Nordic – Africa Foreign Ministers Meeting 11 – 12 March 2009

Copenhagen – South African Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma arrived on Tuesday in Denmark ahead of the 8th Informal Session of the Nordic-Africa Foreign Ministers meeting scheduled for 11 – 12 March 2009 in Copenhagen.

The Nordic-Africa Foreign Ministers Meeting is expected to discuss amongst others:

• Peace and security in Africa focussing on Zimbabwe Somalia and Sudan
• Climate change and security in Africa
• African Peer Review Mechanism
• The Durban Review of the UN World Conference against racism, xenophobia and related intolerances
• And the role of the AU in establishing effective mechanism for promoting good governance and Democratic Institutions

Minister Dlamini Zuma is on a four European nation visit within the context of consolidating bilaterals political and economic relations and advancing the consolidation of the African Agenda while strengthening North-South Cooperation.

Minister Dlamini Zuma is supported on the visit to Denmark by Foreign Affairs Director General, Dr. Ayanda Ntsaluba, South Africa’s Ambassador to Denmark, Dolana Msimang and senior government officials.

During the visit to Denmark, Minister Dlamini Zuma will on the margins of the Nordic-Africa Foreign Ministers Meeting hold bilateral discussions with amongst others the Norwegian Foreign Minister, Minister J.G. Store.

The Nordic-Africa Foreign Ministers meeting will be attended by Foreign Ministers of South Africa, Benin, Botswana, Ghana, Lesotho, Mali, Mozambique, Nigeria, Senegal, Tanzania, Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden.
